Pet Adoption Event

10:00 am - 3:00 pm at the new Goody's in Norton
Weather permitting.

The rescue groups:
In His Hands &
PAWS
will be holding a pet adoption event. Please stop by if you can. If you can't adopt a pet right now, the groups will also greatly appreciate donations. The folks that do this work spend a lot of their own money keeping the rescue groups going.

very good cause.
most of the time (not saying this bout everyone so no one take offense to it) people who want only purebread dogs and cats have them more as a trophy animal than a pet. like someone who has to have a really really nice / expensive car even if it out of their budget.
You see the purebread dog in the back yard tied up to a tree but hey they have a purebread so and so.
It really breaks my heart to see that and to see great dogs in a dog pound / animal shelter that will not get a chance because they are a mix breed

We have 2 mutts and two purebreds, but I consider 3 of them to be rescues.

Omega came from the old Norton pound, absolutely eaten up with worms, and with his mom & littermates euthanized in front of him. I couldn't imagine living without him - he's just the most unusual character (he's also positive he's not a dog).

I did pay for Black Jack, but his former owner was wanting to get rid of him, so I paid him the amount he originally paid for him. He's my guard dog - a VERY good dog all around.

Aiko came from the Sullivan County dog pound. We originally had her littermate, Noel. But Noel had apparently contracted both parvo and distemper before she received her vaccinations. When Noel died we took in her sister. For some unknown reason Aiko didn't contract parvo or distemper. She's still a puppy - funny as can be. We can't wait to see what kind of adult dog she'll be.

I did buy my youngest dachshund (always my baby puppy even if she's 2.5 years old), Pickle. But for those who know the story behind the breeder I got her from, you understand the circumstances are different than buying from a regular for-profit breeder or pet store.

All of ours got the ol snip-snip when they hit 6 months old.

we have one purebread toy poodle.
went to the Sullivan County Shelter for our second dog. A Poodle mix. looks like a c o c k -a-poo. You could tell he has someone be mean to him. He was very timmid and his actions if you raised your voice to him he would just hunker down like he was use to being hit.
Our third is a Black Lab / Rottie / German Shephard mix or somthing like that. Got him at the old Norton dog pound. got him and he had Parvo. he was maybe 6 weeks old. spent the first 9 days we had him at the Vet. They didn't give him a chance and had almost given up on him. Not he is a big ol 100lb goof ball who thiinks he is the size of our toy poodle.
All inside dogs too.
